ACT OF GOD
From the silence on roads to the noise of vehicles, from clear blue sky to the dark gray clouds, from isolated to socialising with rules, from lockdown to Unlock 4.0, people have moved on. But this pandemic has turned people's lives upside down.
50-60,000 Corona cases are being daily reported,
18.9 million people have lost their jobs,
Large number of small businesses are on verge of collapse,
Sharp fall in consumption,
Disinvestment in government assets,
No or poor digital connectivity to significant number of students,
-23.9% GDP in first quarter of FY20-21
A few things are mentioned here, the reality is far more worse.
But is it only an ACT OF GOD or government's way to free itself from the responsibility?
For that, just look at some data of last years;
GDP growth rate trends: 8.3% in 2016-17 to 7% in 2017-18, 6.1% in 2018-19, 4.2% in 2019-20,
Irregularities in paying GST compensation to States for last one year shows that Indian economy is not in healthy condition.
But who cares? Media and people are only concerned about one murder case or a temple construction or fight over religion and caste.
Media, the fourth pillar of democracy is no longer a watchdog, only a medium to keep people away from real issues and people are so swept away by propagandistic journalism that they can't see the reality behind this and its implications on their lives.
Every section of society is in distress, economy is plummeting, people are unemployed.
But "Everything is fine!" "We will be a $5 trillion economy one day!"
How is it going to happen? Have we ever pondered upon? Or will it happen just as an 'ACT OF GOD'?
Youth, the linchpin of a developing economy, most of them are unemployed. Despite this, government has no plans to create job vacancies. Instead lots of posts and jobs have been scrapped in various departments. Moreover, exams for some posts that are to be conducted, don't take place on scheduled times or if they are, results don't come on time and if results are declared, joinings are not given. Is student's life or time just a joke to government? Does government not have any responsibility to provide employment to its citizens? Does government want only its citizens to follow their duties? What about the duties of Government in a democratic country? Are we living in a country that is democratic just for the sake of name? Lots of questions but alas no one cares! People are now deaf, mute and blind to all the genuine isssues around them.
