Democracy Blindfolded

A very old idol of Devi Annapoorna is returning to India from Canada. It is indubitably a proud moment for all of us. But is it not a irony that the people who are responsible for food in our plates(the real Annapoornas), are on roads and are not allowed to enter Delhi, water cannons and tear gas are being used to disperse them. Isn't it their right to protest? Can't they express their dissent to the government?

If the farm laws are in favour of farmers then it is government's responsibility to assure farmers of new rights and opportunities which will be provided by these laws. But unfortunately government is trying to suppress the movement instead of hearing their plight and concerns and clearing their doubts.
Lack of communication between people and government is not good for democracy because democratic government is of the people, by the people and for the people.

To make the matter worse, protestors are being tagged as anti national by public and media as if they are doing some illegal work which is harmful for our country.
It seems protest is now an offensive term in India. People get offended when someone opposes government or its policies. Isn't it weird as they live in democracy and still object the true essence of it?
I think most of the people are not aware of the basics of democracy or they have forgotten as they are blindfolded by the fake nationalism, fake news and propagandistic statements.

It is true that pen is mightier than sword but in today's India, words are, because pen has now lost its nib, if you know what i mean!!
